The Delegated Assessment Organisation [DAO] model has been developed in consultation with industry to provide a means of rapidly building industry capability and capacity for assessing workplace evidence. ETITO will maintain quality through an internal quality assurance process of validation of assessment recommendations.
DAOs will primarily be involved with the assessment of workplace evidence required for Standard Set C, the key professional practice unit standards. DAOs may also be involved with assessing workplace evidence components for Standard Sets A, D and E.
Any adviser who is assessed by a DAO against a Standard Set that contains an examination component [Standard Sets A, D and E] will also incur ETITO examination fees.
The Delegated Assessment Organisation [DAO] model is designed specifically for:
Companies or partnerships operating in the financial services industry with employees and nominated agents who qualify for application to be authorised as a financial adviser with the Financial Markets Authority.
Industry associations with financial members who qualify for application to be authorised as a financial adviser with the Financial Markets Authority.
NZQA registered and accredited training providers training against unit standard in the financial services subfield with enrolled students who can qualify for application to be authorised as a financial adviser with the Financial Markets Authority.
If you fit into one of the groups above and are interested in being assessed through a DAO you should discuss this assessment option with your employer, professional association, product provider or training provider before registering and booking for assessment. Advisers who book individually then take up the DAO option will incur cancellation fees.

The DAO will nominate delegated assessors, to be trained and registered by ETITO, who will then undertake the assessment of the candidate’s portfolio of evidence, conduct the competency discussion, and subsequently provide an assessment recommendation to ETITO.
Assessments will also be subject to ETITO internal and external moderation processes as part of ETITO’s customary quality assurance process.
